BELLINGHAM COMMUNITY MEALS - Bellingham, WA

Bellingham Community Meal Program was started in 1983 by a small group of Subud members working together with the local Catholic church in order to help feed the hungry of the community. The premise of this project was that anyone could come for a free meal, no questions asked, and they would be treated with respect. The clientele ranges from the homeless, the elderly, and the disabled, to people temporarily in need of help.

Over the years, the people have learned to trust us and look forward to coming to a warm, friendly place for relaxation and good food. Large Sunday dinners (including main dish, salad, vegetable, rolls, dessert, juice, milk, coffee and tea) are served once or twice a month. In 1998 over 7,000 meals were provided.

Funding comes from Susila Dharma USA, local churches and business, Subud groups and government grants.
