Stories and News

Current News and Events - Susila Dharma sponsored programs provide regular updates: innovations such as such as microcredit programs for women, expansion of services into new geographies, or celebrations of successful community building. The programs may need to place special "calls for help" here - for funding or for volunteers - stemming from being unable to meet their needs or experiencing an unfortunate setback. A listing of current events and fundraisers is featured here. You will also find disaster relief efforts initiated by our programs posted here.

Founders' Stories - Susila Dharma founders are driven by compassion for their fellow human beings and persevere under difficult circumstances. These visionaries are guided from within to take action in the world, building programs that are not only sustainable but are participatory and in harmony with the cultures they serve. Many founders belong to the communities they are helping.

Recipients, Participants, and Volunteers Speak - How is it when one human being reaches out to another in a time of great need or suffering? Following are words from those whose lives have benefited from Susila Dharma programs, as well as those voiced by program volunteers. Read the stories of people who hold fundraising events in their local communities, or about the experiences of other participants in Susila Dharma-sponsored human initiatives throughout the throughout the world. These words - and poetry and art - will touch you and possibly even surprise you.

Awards and Recognition - International organizations, such as the UN, government agencies, non-profit organizations, and the press acknowledge Susila Dharma founders and support many Susila Dharma programs for vision and excellence in humanitarian work, while also formally recognizing them as global models of community building. Examples include the U.S. Department of Defense matching grant to Clear Path International, awards such as Best Orphanage Management Award to YUM's Children's Village Orphanage in Indonesia, and ongoing UNICEF sponsorship for the International Child Development Programs, which strives to keep children safe and healthy amidst poverty, war, and disasters.
