Community Development
These programs promote stable, sustainable
communities, and foster local responsibility for infrastructure,
such as:
- boosting stability by improving healthcare access, food, and shelter for families,
- building economic strength through microcredit and micro-economic business opportunities,
- encouraging self-sufficiency through work skill development and job training,
- empowering individuals and families through nutrition and parenting classes, and sustainable Community Development projects,
- training local citizens to address, develop, and manage environmental challenges, such as farming or clean water access, and
- promoting human rights: caring for women, children, and the elderly; addressing abuse; supplying legal aid; and tackling the causes of poverty.
By building stable communities, people can maintain culture and value their neighborhoods by resisting the economic pressure to migrate to cities. Susila Dharma programs share the belief that, with the correct tools, not only can people care for themselves, they can also reach out to others in a way that helps transform and sustain their communities.
