Dr. Garzón, President of Vivir, Honored in Peru

Early this year the Peruvian magazine Cosas held an event honoring those considered the most influential in the area of social welfare by the country's best journalists. Dr. Eliana Garzón, president of Asociación Vivir was selected as one of these national honorees: Luz Elena Colmana, director of the Teleamazonian Echos program, selected Dr. Garzón after becoming acquainted with her honoree's dedicated work on behalf of health and marginalized urban women. "Without a doubt, that was enough reason for her selection - but there is more. Dr. Mariana (Eliana) Galarza de Garzón is a homeopathic doctor in the area of health promotion and the author of many works; she is a passionate health facilitator who works out of Asociación Vivir of which she is president. She has worked with 20 marginal urban barrios and has been nominated for the Alternative Nobel Prize (the Right Livelihood Award). In addition she received the distinction of having her project selected by the World Health Organization as one of 15 models worldwide worth emulating."
