Establishing Programs

Although visionary and global in scope, Susila Dharma USA is by nature and choice, committed to encouraging and fostering smaller-scale initiatives, yet those with great potential for service, growth, and long-term sustainability. Susila Dharma USA continues to help establish these programs by supporting the humanitarian vision of the founders as well as providing seed money, often in concert with funding from additional resources. Some of these successful programs include:

Clear Path International - Central Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand. Supplies direct medical and social services to landmine survivors and their families as well as equipment to hospitals. The U.S. State Department matches up to $60,000 in contributions.

Asociación Vivir - Ecuador (established in conjunction with other Susila Dharma nationals). This innovative program, also supported by EU, UNICEF, and the UN, enables people to participate in family education, health services and sustainable community development projects.

With Open Hands - California, USA. Provides food and nourishment to improve the quality of life for the men, women, and children it assists, including those over 60 years of age and people with HIV and AIDS. This program, which serves San Francisco and Alameda counties, also provides meal services for homebound and critically ill people of all ages.

Quest Center - Portland, Oregon, USA. Project Quest offers holistic care and education to people with critical illnesses, including HIV/AIDS and cancer. The emphasis is on providing healthy meals, alternative therapies, community building, and nutrition education.

Tierraviva - Argentina (established in conjunction with other Susila Dharma nationals). This program strengthens ties between mothers in prison and their children to help break the cycle of incarceration by giving art, drama, and dance classes to the women and their preschool children who live with them in prison.

Bellingham Community Meals - Bellingham and Whatcom County, Washington, USA. Partners with local churches and volunteers to serve meals to the homeless, disabled, and poor.
