CLEAR PATH INTERNATIONAL - Central Vietnam, Cambodia, and Thailand Long after cessation of hostilities in war zones, landmines and unexploded bombs remain. Approximately every 30 minutes someone, somewhere in the world is injured or killed by an encounter with this deadly debris. In Southeast Asia, an accident happens every day, shattering lives, hopes and dreams.
Clear Path International serves landmine and bomb accident survivors, their families and their communities. This assistance takes the form of direct medical and social services to survivors and their families as well as equipment support to hospitals. The program’s current projects are within Vietnam, Cambodia and on the Thai Burma border.
Clear Path International's approach to humanitarian programs calls for close cooperation with local residents and agencies that represent them. Its projects are also designed to create an in-country capacity that can sustain the victim assistance activities well into the future, independently or with minimal support from the international community.
Clear Path sponsors and manages programs to assist victims of accidental landmine/uxo explosions through:
- emergency medical treatment, - orthopedic and corrective surgery, - prosthetics, - physical rehabilitation, - long-term health care, - nutritional support, - special scholarships, and - other initiatives that support the victims' reintegration into their communities.
Since 2002, Clear Path’s support of four prosthetics fabrication shops in the region has benefited hundreds of landmine accident survivors and significantly enhanced production efficiency and expertise. To support mine-affected communities elsewhere in the world, Clear Path also collects, prepares and ships 40-foot containers of medical equipment and/or supplies to Asia, Latin America and Middle East with the generous support of Universal Aide Society in Canada.
Clear Path has offices in Dorset, VT, Bainbridge Island, WA, and Dong Ha, Vietnam. It has implementing partners in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, and Mae Sot, Thailand. The organization gets its funding from grassroots donors, charities, churches and relief organizations, including Susila Dharma International, Susila Dharma USA and Susila Dharma U.K.
