Trustworthy

In 2006, 88% of the donations collected by Susila Dharma USA were given directly to the programs that you support. The remainder was used for administrative, overhead, and promotional expenses. This describes the established pattern of our giving history for almost 30 years.

The additional factors that contribute to Susila Dharma USA’s trustworthiness include:

  • Working in partnership with the 24 other national Susila Dharma organizations, we are part of a valuable, interactive global network. Through our relationship with Susila Dharma International, we maintain consultative status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC) and the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF). The UN officially recognizes some Susila Dharma programs as models of community building.
  • The Susila Dharma USA board of directors remains in direct communication with all programs, and we require semi-annual reports from program leaders to ensure oversight and accountability.
  • The volunteer board meets twice a year to review/vote on formal grant requests from both established and potential new initiatives, and to establish short- and long-term strategic direction. We hold regular phone conferences to discuss other relevant issues.
  • The U.S. State Department matches contributions for some Susila Dharma programs.
  • Susila Dharma-sponsored programs and program leaders regularly receive international awards and recognition. See Success Stories.
  • Susila Dharma USA does not distribute, sell, or trade donor contact information.
  • Although you will receive personal acknowledgement from Susila Dharma USA for your donation, you can choose to remain anonymous or let us share and further celebrate your participation.
  • The Susila Dharma USA Endowment Fund, a capital fund, is held by Morgan Stanley for long-term development.
